There are days when all the news gets sadder by the hour
Times so bad I have to wonder where is the Higher Power
When desperate people walk the streets with no place else to go
And drought and heat and hurricanes wash over all we know
But no matter what comes our way
I need to believe
I’ve got to believe that

Everything happens for a reason
Whether we understand it or not

Then there must be a higher plan

While guns and greed and governments spread misery on earth
I wonder if we’ve all forgotten what a life is worth
I’m tryin’ to remember what they taught me long ago
I wish I knew that everything I learned is really so
But no matter what comes our way
