Why Wait ‘Til Christmas?

I tucked it safely in the back Of my closet hide away But I couldn’t wait for jingle bells Or rain deer on the roof So Santa Clause came early just for you Why wait ‘til Christmas? That’s what I believe. Why wait ‘til Christmas? For it’s in giving we receive/ Why wait ‘til Christmas To share the love and cheer? Why wait ‘til Christmas When it comes just once a year.? The phone rings at Thanksgiving Absent friends who call to say We should try to get together ’round the holiday. But despite our good intentions We just never find the time Soon another year has come and gone. Why wait ‘til Christmas To raise a toast with friends? Why wait ‘til Christmas To go back home again? Why wait ‘til Christmas To share the love and cheer? Why wait ‘til Christmas When it comes just once a year? Why wait To marvel at the starry skies Why wait To see the magic in your lover’s eyes, To wander in the silent snow, Gaze into a fire’s glow, To pray for all the children and the people That we’ll never know. Rejoicing in the holy light We sing of peace by candlelight. Don’t let this feeling disappear. Why should it come just once a year. Why can’t we have peace within us Every single night. Why wait ‘til Christmas? There’s no time to waste. Why wait ‘til Christmas To ask for special grace? Why wait ‘til Christmas To hold your loved ones near? Why wait ‘tip Christmas?
